Robert is a 1993 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he received a B.A. in economics.  In 1996 he graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate.

Upon admission to the bar in Colorado and the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado in 1997, Robert began representing clients in general business matters, real estate transactions, and family law, and has been doing so for 20 years.  Robert acted as general counsel for a nationwide general contractor and commercial developer for 7 years, responsible for all elements of commercial transactions, including financing, equity arrangements, business structure, acquisition, disposition, leasing, mineral rights, entitlements, zoning and planning, design/engineering, construction contracting, construction oversight, and litigation management.

Robert partnered with Paul Gordon in August 2015 to form Gordon & Melun, LLC (the predecessor to Gordon Melun Maton LLP) and remains focused on a wide range of commercial litigation as well as general business, real estate, family and transaction law.  This range of disciplines provides a keen insight to clients’ desires and needs.

Family law matters can often be cooperatively resolved as a result of diligent analysis of the issues at hand.  We make every effort to achieve a cooperative settlement to you family law issues because doing so usually maximizes the client’s position, is cost sensitive and creates the least amount of stress and conflict during this difficult time.  When matters cannot be cooperatively resolved, we have extensive litigation experience and the knowledge and strength to fight aggressively for our clients.  In 1997 Robert became a Court Appointed Special Advocate – “CASA”, with Advocates for Children, serving children of dependency and neglect in Arapahoe County, Colorado. In 1998 Robert became a board member of Advocates for Children where he served for 17 years, including serving as the Board Chair from 2010-2012.  While no longer on the board of Advocates for Children, Robert remains a resource to the Board and an ardent child advocate.

Robert spends his free time hiking, skiing, coaching and exploring with his two boys.
